Ask Us Here:
Q: WHAT IS “GREATER THINGS”?
A: God has called ChristChurch to accomplish Greater Things, and be a church that translates biblical truth into relevant teaching, transforming unbelievers, impacting Christ-followers, and creating life-change in multiple generations.
Greater Things is a bible-centered initiative that will call us to give more sacrificially than ever before in order to advance our mission together. It will enable us to build our Phase 2.0 building expansion and take advantage of the unique position and future opportunities for which God has called us to prepare, as Christ Church.
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these…” John 14:12
Q: HOW IS OUR CURRENT MINISTRY MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLE’S LIVES?
A: We continue to see God accomplish life-change in those who attend and participate in the ministries of Christ Church. The numbers of next generation families continues to grow, with 45 infant baptisms in 2016. Groups, Celebrate Recovery, and Youth Ministry continue to increase in numbers and impact among those who participate. Our worship numbers continue to increase as the vitality and impact of worship become more significant.
Q: HOW IS THE PHASE 2.0 BUILDING EXPANSION PROGRESSING?
A: The Phase 2.0 expansion at Christ Church continues to move forward. Christ Church leadership, including our Mission Support Team and others, has been praying, meeting, discerning, and joining God in His plans for years. In fact, prior to our current building being completed in 2009, there were prayers and dreams and plans for Phase 2.0 and Phase 3.0. Through ongoing prayer, our leadership has moved forward with RFPs (Request for Proposals) and has chosen an architect, along with other strategic partners and experts, many months ago. They have been helping to guide us through this expansion in a God-honoring way.
Q: WHY ARE WE DOING A MULTI-VENUE EXPANSION?
A: A one-site multi-venue ministry will allow us to speak different worship languages and, therefore, impact a new population of people who relate to a particular style of worship. We will be able to reach people in a targeted way as we create specific venues for particular worship styles. It will increase our ability to cut across cultures and reach the variety of people that resides in the north shore corridor. This is different than multi-site, which means having different locations across broader geography and, at this time, does not match with Christ Church’s vision and mission.
Q: WHAT’S THE TIMELINE?
A: We continue to be on target for a spring 2018 groundbreaking and early fall 2019 completion.
Q: HOW MUCH IS THE EXPANSION?
A: Our leadership and expansion teams continue to refine and move closer to a final number and the current estimate is $11 million.
Q: HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE RAISED?
A: Funds will be raised by commitment from our congregation during our Greater Things campaign by either giving weekly, monthly, or annually over a three-year period. The campaign runs from October 1 to November 19, 2017.
Q: HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE?
A: That is between you and God. The point of Greater Things is not equal gifts, but equal sacrifice. So when you decide how much to give, think in terms of sacrifice, not just in terms of amount.
Q: HOW DO I DECIDE HOW MUCH TO GIVE?
A: The best way to determine how much to give is to fully engage in our four-week study, The Genius of Generosity, with a Greater Things Group. After taking time each day to pray and study scripture, we believe you will decide on a gift that is fully honoring to God.
Q: DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IF I’M NEW TO CHRIST CHURCH?
A: Nobody has to participate, but we hope you will. If giving is part of spiritual growth, we want you to grow. You can think of it another way too: in the same way, someone sacrificed so we could create a seat for you, we want you to experience the joy of creating space for someone else.
Q: SHOULD I DIRECT MY REGULAR GIVING TO GREATER THINGS WHEN IT BEGINS?
A: No, your gift should be above and beyond your regular giving. Take time to prayerfully consider what gift God is asking you to give.
Q: WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A LOT TO GIVE?
A: It’s not the size of the gift, it’s the size of the sacrifice. In fact, sometimes those with little bring the greatest gifts of all because it represents a very deep personal sacrifice. God sees what you bring far more clearly than anyone else does.
Q: IS THERE A WAY FOR ME TO GIVE NON-CASH GIFTS?
A: Yes. Gifts of stocks, investments, and personal property are accepted.
